Karma Dancing With Shadows

This corner of the world is mine where I come to write, claim my independence, feel, think and write what's on my mind in the hopes that sharing experiences of being the daughter of a Narcissist can help others who are dealing with and overcoming the obstacles to regaining true emotional freedom.

what I'm reading...

'Making Friends with Black People'

A hella funny read..I actually laughed out loud reading while under the hairdryer at the beauty shop. The nosey white woman next to me peeped my book then turned her body away from me. Typical.
Nic Adams, a stand up comedian, delves into the mindset of the vanilla mindset that is set on pigeonholing blacks into categories which he breaks down with satirical insight and which promises to offend or enlighten depending on your particular view.

One thing he said is which is funny yet true. Once they start adopting of our language (slang), its no longer cool for blacks to use it. I was watching a commercial and the white guy said 'that's wassup' and when I heard it, I'm now waaayy less inclined to use that term. Sheesh! Can we have anything for ourselves? Why do whites steal from us all the cool stuff of our culture, take it, make it theirs and make more money from it than we could ever make? I'm just saying.

Ok. Jumping off my afrocentric soapbox.

Dancing with Shadows

My photo
a mix of 'tude...fortitude, solitude and attitude. I have an unhealthy addiction to intelligent, free-thinkers, red vine licorice, vitamin water, raw carrots and sitting on my back porch with a good book becoming one with nature
