Strawberry Letter 23...or is it 22?

I luvs me this song...ever wonder why the hook says 'strawberry letter 22' but the title indicates otherwise??? During the psychadelic-everrythang-iz-groovie-baby drug infused 70's one wudda thought George & Louis Johnson was on some heavy stuff to throw everybody into a tailspin of confusion but actually a young guitar prodigy Shuggie Otis (real name- Johnny Otis Jr) wrote this song at 17 for his girlfriend who sent him letters written on strawberry scented paper. The 22nd letter was such a emotional doozie, Shuggie penned the song in hopes of another letter, hence the title 'strawberry letter 23'. It was released on Shuggie's first album 'Freedom Flight' in 1971. Incidently Quincy Jones produced this song and another favorite singer of mine, Tevin Campbell did a remix, which Quincy Jones also produced. One person said they thought the song was about a guy getting shot with a 22 by his girlfriend..."blue flowers echo from a cherry cloud".... I could see that.
