William F. Buckley Jr dies

He passed today of unknown causes at 82. To me, he was such an unforgivingly frank, witty and erudite figure, the Samuel Johnson of the 21st century "I am, I fully grant, a phenomenon, but not because of any speed in composition....I asked myself the other day, 'Who else, on so many issues, has been so right so much of the time?' I couldn't think of anyone." A gaping hole is left in the literary world
